Traffic Control & Work Zone Protection

How can you ensure the safety of both workers and drivers as they travel through the work zone?

Whether on a construction project or a permanent job, traffic control is a very important responsibility. The safety of workers, motorists and pedestrians continues to be a concern for cities and municipalities in Minnesota … and the nation.

Recent studies showed that 2-3% of all reported accidents were work zone related. There are many different ways to improve worker protection, including reducing speeds, increasing visibility, changing traffic flows and creating safe barriers.

Safety is the main issue (Choose ATSSA Certified Technicians)

Because safety is a concern for all of us, it is important that the company you choose employees ATSSA certified traffic technicians and supervisors. Since 1969, ATSSA has represented companies and individuals in the traffic control and roadway safety industry.

The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)
…and why it matters.

The MUTCD defines the standards used by road managers nationwide to install and maintain traffic control devices and signs on all public streets, highways, bikeways, and private roads open to public traffic.

The MUTCD, which has been administered by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) since 1971, is a compilation of national standards for all traffic control devices, including road markings, highway signs, and traffic signals. It is updated periodically to accommodate the nation’s changing transportation needs and to address new safety technologies, traffic control tools and traffic management techniques.

.

It is critical that all of your technicians and supervisors
are knowledgeable and can implement MUTCD procedures.
